Function Keys
Function keys are labeled as F1, F2, ...F12. There is a total of 12 function keys which is present on any standard keyboard. Each function key had designed or programmed to perform a certain task.
Use of function keys-
F1-
It opens help and support window. Below is a windows help and support window which comes on screen when we use f1 functions keys on windows operating sytem.

F2 -
These function key is used for performing various tasks which are following -
1.For renaming a selected file or folder.
Below are few pictures which shows what f2 function key does -
Before pressing f2 the folder looks like following.
After pressing f2 on the selected folder we get the following result -
2.Similarly, in ms excel it is also used for editing cell content.
3.If we use it with Ctrl button combination with f2 , then it will produces print preview window in ms office programs.
F3 - These function key is used to search files/folders. After using f3 on the windows operating system we get the following results -
F4 -
These function key also have various uses which are following-
1.On using these function key with Ctrl button, we can close the ms office programs current window.
2. It is also used to shut down computer, if we use the f4 function key with Alt key , we get the following window on the screen-
3. On using alt key with f4 function key we can close any computer program directly .
F5 -
1.MS Word & Excel - Used for opening go to dialog box .
2.MS Powerpoint - Used for playing presentation/slideshow.
3.Browser - Used to reload website.
4. CTRL + F5 - used to page break in MS Word.
5. CTRL + F5 - used to move to next place holder in MS Power Point.
F6 -
These function keys is used to activate address bar in the internet browser .

F7 -
Word & Excel - These function key is used for checking spelling and grammar option in MS Office Programs.
F8 -
-These function key is used to enter the Windows startup menu, commonly used to access Windows Safe Mode.
Alt + F8 - used to run macro in Ms Word.
F9-
CTRL + F9 -When we use these function key with ctrl key, we can insert curly braces in Ms word document.
F10-
These function key is used to activate menu bar in many programs.
Example -
F11-
These function key is used to enter/exit the full screen preview in the browser.
F12-
F12 - Opens save as dialog box in ms office programs.
Ctrl+F12 - Opens a document in the Word.
Shift+F12 - Saves the Microsoft Word document .
Ctrl+Shift+F12 - Prints a document in the Microsoft Word.
